Stellaris: Shadows of the Shroud
A psionic-empire deep dive that assumes you already run Shroud builds. Skip it if your ascension rotation leans machine or bio.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it only if psionic ascension is already your default opener. Everyone else can skip without missing a thing.
Compare Prices(2 stores)
Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Stellaris: Shadows of the Shroud
This one asks for prior investment before it hands you anything. If you have not already run a psionic empire deep into a Stellaris campaign, the whole expansion sits behind a door you have not opened yet: the reworked Shroud covenants, the allegiance choices that lock you into one patron's demands, the moral-choice branches that only bite when your population is already awash in psionic pops. Newcomers should treat it as a purchase for campaign fifteen, not campaign one. Everyone else gets a genuinely denser late game, where the Shroud stops being a slot-machine you poke every few decades and starts behaving like a faction with opinions about your empire. The 43 percent Mixed score is not review-bombing, it is accurate scoping. Paradox reworked one ascension path with real care and left every other playstyle untouched, so if you queue machine or bio ascension by habit you will finish a 300-hour save and notice nothing. Workshop support means the modding scene will stretch this further than the base content does. Buy it if psionics are already in your rotation, otherwise there is nothing here for you.
