Social Democracy: An Alternate History is free-to-play — free to download and play, with optional paid editions and DLC compared on this page. Developed by Red Autumn Games. Published by Red Autumn Games. Released on 8/21/2026. Available on PC, Linux. Genres: Casual, Indie, Simulation, Strategy, Free To Play.

A free, text-dense political sim where you run the SPD in 1928 and try to out-manoeuvre the Nazis. Bring patience for coalition maths, not for flashy UI.

Sim players know the deal: some games ask for patience before they hand anything back, and this one wants a few evenings, a tolerance for dense text, and the willingness to lose your first two runs. You play the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1928, tasked with keeping the Nazis from power in a republic whose maths is stacked against you. Coalition arithmetic, party discipline, and decisions that only cash out three elections later. The value is in the decision space, not the presentation. It is text-first, singleplayer, with no mod hooks or multiplayer listed, so what you meet in run one is what you get. Expect a first playthrough spent working out what the numbers actually represent, since it explains its history more generously than its mechanics. The losing is the good part: failure here feels researched rather than arbitrary, which is more than most historical sims manage. Diego, Scout Team

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
