I went in expecting either a joke game or a fever dream, and Smart Mummy kind of delivers on both. You're managing a mummy's existence in what seems to be a hybrid adventure-sim setup - keeping it fed, entertained, and presumably not causing chaos. The core appeal is its strangeness: there's no other game quite like it, and that novelty carries you through the first couple hours. The indie production values are obvious, but the concept commits hard to its absurdity. The problem is depth. Once you've figured out the core loop of mummy care, there's not much meat to chew on. It's the kind of game you boot up to see what happens next, not one that builds layers of complexity or meaningful choice. If you're hunting for something that slots neatly into a genre, look elsewhere. But if you're bored with the usual suspects and want to experience gaming's weirder corners, Smart Mummy is a low-stakes, low-cost way to scratch that itch.
