About Skara - Starter Package
This one is for the survival crowd that gets a kick out of the early hours, the part where you are starving, unarmed and hearing something move in the trees. If you want a deep base-building loop or a story to chase, walk away now. Skara keeps you in third person in an open prehistoric wilderness, hunting for food, patching yourself up with pagan magic instead of a medkit menu, and defending yourself with primitive weapons against animals and things that are decidedly not animals. What it does well is atmosphere and pressure. The supernatural threat sitting on top of ordinary predator danger gives the wilderness a nastier edge than the usual chop-wood-eat-berries routine, and the magic healing fits the setting rather than feeling bolted on. What it does not do is hide its scale. This is a small single-player release from a tiny team, so expect rough edges in combat feel and pacing, and do not expect the systems density of the genre's heavyweights. Come for the mood, not the checklist.
