Best for co-op fans who want more narrative stakes than a typical arcade brawler provides.

About Samurai Riot
I've always appreciated beat-em-ups that respect co-op as more than a gimmick. Samurai Riot does something rare: it wraps a traditional arcade-style brawler around a narrative spine where choices actually fork the campaign. Play solo or grab a friend for split-screen, and your decisions determine which story threads unfold. The pixel work is clean, the combat loop solid enough for repeated runs, and knowing the game has multiple endings gives real weight to those moral pivots. It's not flawless. The Metacritic score sits at 64, and that's fair - the branching doesn't reinvent the wheel, and some players found the early pacing sluggish. But if you want a 2D brawler that knows it's more than button-mashing, and you're willing to replay it for hidden paths, this scratches that itch.
