The order ticket says three plates of soup, and I'm staring at a board where the only soup ingredients sit in opposite corners. Two moves later the timer wins, and I replay the level knowing exactly which cascade I missed. That loop is the whole of Rory's Restaurant: Winter Rush, a casual match-3 game strung along a cooking story, with hidden-object scenes dropped in to break up the grid. Rory heads back to her hometown after her first restaurant succeeds, and the plot is mostly a friendly excuse to move you between kitchens. What works is the pacing. Levels are short, the match-3 objectives are legible, and swapping to a hidden-object screen every so often keeps it from going numb. What doesn't is depth. The mechanics are borrowed wholesale from a genre that has been iterating for fifteen years, and the presentation is modest even by casual standards. Play it if you want something warm and undemanding to run while a podcast plays. Look elsewhere if you want a puzzle that fights back.
