Compare Return of the Phantom prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by MPS Labs. Published by Ziggurat. Released on 8/7/2020. Available on PC. Genres: Adventure.

A restored point-and-click whodunit where time travel is the puzzle box, not the plot twist. Short, talky, and fair-ish, if you can stomach 90s adventure logic.

The whole game hinges on one mechanic: you don't solve the Phantom case in the present, you jump backward into 1800s Paris and change what already happened. Every clue Inspector Raoul Montand digs up in the modern opera house is really a shopping list for the past, which flips how you approach a scene. You stop asking "what do I do here" and start asking "what did somebody leave behind here, decades ago, that I can go rearrange." It's a smart hook for a point and click, and it keeps the opera house from feeling like the same three corridors on repeat. What it isn't is generous. This is a MPS Labs adventure from the genre's fussier era, reissued by Ziggurat, and it plays like it: pixel hunting, conversation trees that hide the one line you needed, and a couple of puzzle leaps that only make sense in retrospect. It's also short, single-player, no extras. But the atmosphere is genuinely creepy and the small Steam crowd rating it highly isn't wrong about the mystery structure holding up. Come for the setting, keep a notepad handy. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Worth it for classic adventure fans who want a compact gothic mystery and won't rage at 90s puzzle logic.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
