The store page for the Deluxe Edition promises a fuller version of the RE2 remake, and in one narrow sense it delivers: you get the base game plus the extra DLC bundle, which is mostly alternate costumes for Leon and Claire, the classic 1998 soundtrack swap, and the Samurai Edge sidearm variants. Where reality parts ways with the pitch is impact. None of it touches the campaign, the Mr. X pursuit loop, the resource scarcity that makes every handgun round feel like a decision, or the A/B scenario structure. It is decoration on a game that was already complete. The one component I would call genuinely useful is the retro soundtrack toggle, which recontextualises the whole Raccoon City Police Department if you played the original. Costumes and the extra pistols are shelf-filler by comparison, fun for a second run and forgettable on the first. If you have never played the remake, buy the standard edition, finish Leon A and Claire B, then decide whether you want the dress-up. Returning fans chasing nostalgia audio are the only group this package genuinely serves.
