About Raven Squad
Raven Squad tries to straddle the line between SOCOM-style squad tactics and direct FPS control, and the result feels half-baked on both fronts. You'll pause mid-combat to issue orders to squad mates, then jump into first-person perspective to handle firefights yourself. The concept has merit, but the execution is clunky: AI pathfinding is unreliable, the strategic layer doesn't reward planning the way a proper tactical game should, and the gunplay feels stiff compared to dedicated shooters from that era. With a Metacritic score of 39, this is a relic of early-2000s experimentation that didn't pay off. If you're desperate for hybrid squad-shooter gameplay and willing to tolerate dated graphics, jank, and frustrating AI, it exists. Otherwise, better options have aged far more gracefully since 2009.
