Political Animals
A two-hour election sim with real action-point tension, but the campaign map runs dry once you've solved its handful of province puzzles.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it for couch-PvP strategy fans who want a two-hour campaign, not for anyone chasing long-term AI depth.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Political Animals
Every turn gives you a fistful of action points, and that scarcity is the whole game. Fundraise, and you skip the swing province bleeding four points. Send your running mate to shore up a region, and you're not digging up dirt on the opposition. Squeaky Wheel built a turn-based election sim around anthropomorphic candidates and satirical corruption mechanics, and the core loop of allocating too few resources across too many provinces genuinely works. Sessions run roughly two hours, which is the correct length for a game this tight. The problem is depth past the first few campaigns. The AI opponents follow readable patterns, the province set stops surprising you, and once you internalise which regions actually swing, the optimal opening stops changing. Mixed Steam reviews at 69 percent track with that. Local split-screen PvP and Remote Play Together are where it holds up longest, because a human opponent supplies the unpredictability the AI cannot. Come for a short, sharp resource-allocation puzzle with a satirical coat of paint, not for a strategy game you'll still be theorycrafting in month three.
