Pile Up!
Deceptively chill tile-placement that will have you nodding off right before your combustion engine ignites the whole island. Worth a look if you want low-stakes strategy with a genuine sting in the tail.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for casual-to-mid players who want a compact roguelite city builder with a genuine risk-and-reward bite.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Pile Up!
My first session with Pile Up! ended with a very satisfying explosion and a self-satisfied grin, which is roughly the experience the developers intended. You get a small island, a growing queue of resident requests, and a roster of structures that interact with every tile above, below, and beside them. The spatial logic is tighter than the cozy art style lets on: placing a combustion engine on a rooftop to save footprint space feels clever until the hazard warning you ignored three turns ago becomes a chain reaction. That tension between efficiency and risk is where the game actually lives, and it is sharp enough to justify the price of admission. Mechanically, Pile Up! sits at the crossroads of roguelite and city builder. Each run uses controlled randomness to shuffle what buildings and requests appear, so no two playthroughs are identical. The turn-based pacing means there is no time pressure in the traditional sense, but the game compensates with structural interdependence: every placement decision compounds. The isometric view helps readability, and the mouse-only control scheme keeps the interface clean for a casual audience. The Experience, Key, and Seal progression systems add a meta layer on top of the per-run building loop, though the tutorial does not fully explain them, and some players will hit a wall of confusion before the handbook fills in the gaps. The reception picture is a bit mixed depending on which window you look through. The all-time Steam score sits at a solid Mostly Positive, but recent reviews trended toward Mixed after the game landed in a bundle, drawing players who encountered bugs and felt communication from the team had gone quiet. To be fair, Remoob is a small indie studio built by high school students in Turkey, and the patch notes show the team is still actively addressing issues like the developer-build launch bug and task UI regressions. If you are buying at full release expecting a polished, feature-complete city builder, manage those expectations. If you are buying a compact, clever puzzler that punishes complacency, that product is here and functional. For strategy players who like their decision trees dense, Pile Up! is probably too lightweight to scratch the grand-strategy itch. But for anyone who wants a focused, single-session loop that rewards spatial thinking without demanding a 400-hour commitment, the depth-to-runtime ratio is genuinely good. The adjustable difficulty setting and the option to play without timed input also make it a reasonable recommendation for players who want a gentler on-ramp. Just read the handbook before you place that engine on a rooftop.
