I've been through enough horror sims to know the difference between jump-scare theatre and genuine dread, and Paranormal Investigation leans hard into the latter. You're alone in a decrepit building tracking anomalies, strange noises, visual glitches, objects out of place, trying to gather concrete evidence while your mental state deteriorates. The core loop is simple: move through spaces, document what doesn't add up, piece together a coherent theory about what's actually there versus what your deteriorating mind is fabricating. For a debut indie title, the atmosphere work is what carries it. There's no combat, no inventory juggling, just you, a audio log, and the creeping question of whether that shadow was real. The lack of Steam reviews and the June 2025 release date mean this hasn't hit mainstream radar yet, so expectations should stay grounded, this is a focused experience, not a 40-hour campaign. If you want psychological horror stripped of mechanical bloat, it's worth the risk on the premise alone.
