Oddyssey: Your Space, Your Way

I went in expecting a traditional adventure and found something closer to a digital sandbox. Oddyssey drops you into space with minimal direction, letting you explore at your own pace, dock at stations, and piece together what this universe is about through conversation and observation. There's no combat to speak of, no quest log nagging you, no markers telling you where to go next. If you're the type who loved the original Myst or thrives on unstructured exploration, this hits different. That said, the minimalist approach cuts both ways. Without combat or time pressure, pacing can feel slow, and some players will find themselves adrift wondering what they're supposed to do. The writing and world-building carry the experience, so if dialogue and discovery don't engage you, there's not much else here. It's a niche game for a niche audience, and honestly, it knows it.
