About Monument Valley - The Collection
A path that looks impossible becomes walkable once you move the right piece of the monument around it, and that change of perspective is the whole trick here. In Monument Valley you guide Ida, a silent princess on a quest for forgiveness, through structures that only make sense once you change how you look at them. This reimagined version was released on Steam on July 12, 2022. It was developed and published by ustwo games.
Bending the architecture
Each level is a hand-built monument, and your job is to make its geometry cooperate: you spot where Ida's route breaks off, work a piece of the structure, and watch a walkway that should be impossible connect so she can cross. The illusions are the puzzle itself, so working out an answer means learning to read the building from a new angle. Part of the challenge comes from the Crow People, who stand in Ida's path as obstacles and have to be outwitted with the same sideways thinking the buildings ask for.

The pace is calm and meditative, built around exploring each space rather than racing through it. Each monument is a small hand-crafted place of its own, and while you puzzle over one you are looking at spare, minimalist shapes that echo ancient architecture from around the world; this version also expands the world with more of those impossible structures to work through.
Playing on PC
On Windows, the artwork has been reworked as full-screen panoramas that fill widescreen, ultrawide and TV displays. Although every interaction comes down to clicking parts of a monument, the game also has full controller support, which suits playing from the couch on a TV. Steam Cloud saves your progress, and the 19 Steam Achievements give completionists a checklist alongside the story.
The soundtrack add-on
The one add-on, Monument Valley - Original Soundtrack, is the game's music as a separate purchase, released on Steam on August 25, 2025. It is music rather than playable content, so it suits players who want to listen to the score away from the puzzles.
Who it suits
As a casual game designed so that players of any age or experience level can reach the end of Ida's journey, it suits younger or newer players and anyone after a quiet, calming run of spatial puzzles, since it is built to be finished rather than to stop people cold.
