I've spent enough hours in deckbuilders to spot when the genre's tired, and Monster Train 2 isn't that. The core loop is tight: draft monster clans, build spell synergies, and execute increasingly absurd combat chains as you scale toward Titan battles. Shiny Shoe's sequel refines what worked in the original without overthinking it. Runs clock in around 30-60 minutes depending on difficulty, which respects your time while staying deep enough that veterans still hunt for perfect synergy lines. The Railforged clan mechanic is the draw here, stacking locomotive-themed bonuses creates satisfying power curves that shift your entire strategy mid-run. Difficulty settings let you tune the grind, and the modular approach means each class plays like a different puzzle. It's not revolutionary, but it's exactly what a sequel should be: familiar enough that you'll jump in, tight enough that you'll stay.
