MLB The Show 21 (Xbox One)
Baseball sim that finally made the jump to Xbox, but it's the 2021 edition on a platform where the series has no momentum.
GamerScout Verdict
For Game Pass subscribers only; a functional but aging baseball sim that's been superseded by newer entries in the series.

About MLB The Show 21 (Xbox One)
I went in expecting MLB The Show 21 to feel like a late arrival to Xbox, and it does. This is the year San Diego Studio brought the exclusive to Game Pass, which is huge for Xbox players starved for licensed baseball depth. The Diamond Dynasty card mode, Road to the Show single-player career, and online ranked seasons are all here with the mechanics that series loyalists recognize: timing-based batting, pitching control, and card collection progression that scratches the live-service itch. The problem is timing. By 2021 standards, this entry feels dated compared to what the series would become. You're not getting the refinements or roster updates that came in later editions, and on Xbox you're essentially joining a dead multiplayer ecosystem. If you're a Game Pass subscriber in 2024 looking to scratch a baseball itch with minimal friction, it's still functional. Everyone else should wait for a newer year if they can.
