A rough-edged 2016 arcade shooter that spends its first hour fighting you, then settles into a decent 90-minute wave-clearing sitting. Manage expectations.

The first hour of Merger 3D is genuinely unpleasant, and I want to be upfront about that before anything else. The twin-stick controls feel like they were tuned by someone aiming with a different hand than yours, your ship drifts where you did not ask it to go, and the cyberpunk framing amounts to a color palette and some neon geometry rather than any world you can hold onto. Mixed reviews sitting near the halfway mark are not a mystery here. Push past that hour, though, and something small clicks. Once your thumbs recalibrate, the wave structure develops a rhythm, and clearing a dense screen of enemies while threading a gap has that old arcade pull that better-funded games sometimes overthink out of existence. What it never becomes is more than that. There is no progression to chase, no soundtrack that lingers after you close the window, no moment where the premise pays off. It is a tiny action shooter from a small team, priced and paced like one, and it ends before it wears out its welcome, which I count as a virtue. If you collect obscure Sometimes You releases or you want a single-session score chase and nothing more, it earns its slot. Anyone hoping the cyberpunk hook means atmosphere should look elsewhere. Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
