Compare Medieval II: Total War - Collection prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Available on PC.

The grand-strategy classic that still eats weekends: hours of map management for the payoff of watching 2,000 troops actually collide.

Before Medieval II gives you anything, it wants your attention span. Turns crawl. You shuffle agents around a campaign map, manage settlements, keep the Pope from excommunicating you, and grind through diplomacy screens that have aged like milk. Then a siege triggers, the battle loads, and suddenly you are watching pike blocks brace against cavalry on a hillside with the kind of scale most modern strategy games still cannot match. That trade, tedium for spectacle, is the whole deal here. The Collection bundles the base campaign with the Kingdoms expansions, which is where a lot of the real value sits: the Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades and Americas campaigns are tighter and better designed than the sprawling grand campaign. What disappoints is everything around the fighting. The AI negotiates badly, stacks doom-armies late-game, and the interface assumes you already know what every icon does. It runs on old tech and looks it. But nothing since has quite replicated the feel of a real-time medieval line breaking, and the modding scene has kept this thing alive for good reason. Come for the battles, tolerate the rest. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Worth it for the battles and the Kingdoms campaigns if you can stomach a dated campaign layer and clumsy AI.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
