M.E.A.T. RPG

M.E.A.T. RPG is exactly what its name suggests: an indie action RPG set in a world made of meat. Released in 2021, it's a small-scale adventure that doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. The combat is straightforward hack-and-slash fare, the story embraces the weirdness of its setting, and the whole thing runs with an intentionality that suggests the developer knew exactly what they were making. This is a hard sell for most players. The visuals are budget-tier, the mechanics aren't breaking new ground, and the novelty of "everything is meat" only carries you so far. But if you're the type who appreciates a game for doing its own thing without apology, and you're fine with rough production values in exchange for creative ambition, M.E.A.T. RPG has a weird charm. It's not going to dominate your backlog, but it'll scratch an itch if you're hunting for something genuinely different.
