The store page sells you Avengers: The Tactics Game. What you actually get is a card-driven squad battler bolted to a hangout sim, and the split matters. Combat is the strong half. Every hero runs a small deck, you get a few plays per turn, and the fun comes from chaining redraws, environmental knockbacks and Heroism spends into one absurd turn where Magik hurls Wolverine through a stack of crates. It sounds gimmicky on paper. It plays great. The other half is the Abbey. Between missions you wander a hub, hand out gifts, hang out with the roster and grind affinity for better cards. Some players adore that. Plenty will read it as a walking-sim tax on the good part, and the custom Hunter protagonist is easily the least interesting person in a cast of icons. If the tactical hook lands for you, the downtime is survivable.
