About Mahokenshi
Turn six, one card left in hand, and a corrupted demon sitting two tiles from the shrine I was supposed to be defending. I spent the card on movement instead of an attack, lost the shrine anyway, and finally understood the trick: the deck is only half the puzzle. Cards are your steps across the map as well as your katana swings, so a samurai who explores greedily for loot shows up to the objective underleveled and out of turns. That single overlap does a lot of heavy lifting. The playable samurai pull toward genuinely different decks (raw strikes, magic, defense, speed), and blending a house's cards with what the map hands you is where runs get interesting. Elsewhere it's rough. Mission structure repeats itself, the story is thin connective narration between maps, and a bad draw against a timed objective can sink a run through no fault of your planning. Come for the puzzle-box maps, not the plot.
