Madden NFL 17
If you're a console football fan stuck on Xbox, Madden 17 delivers a solid franchise mode but feels like a refinement year rather than a leap forward.
GamerScout Verdict
Solid franchise sim for console football fans, but don't expect innovation beyond last year's formula.

About Madden NFL 17
I went in expecting the usual Madden formula, and that's exactly what I got. Madden 17 tightens up the Franchise mode with better depth and player management tools, making a multi-season campaign actually feel rewarding if you care about roster building and draft strategy. The on-field gameplay is tight and responsive for console standards, with improved mechanics around blocking and route running that give your offensive play-calling more teeth. The catch? This is the kind of annual refresh that plays it very safe. If you played Madden 16, you're not missing a revolutionary leap here. Ultimate Team exists for players who want to chase card packs, but the core single-player loop won't surprise anyone. It's a competent football sim that does what it promises, no more, no less. Worth it if football is your sport and you're committed to a season or two in Franchise mode.
