Love is All Around 2
Two storylines, one playthrough, and you probably can't have both: the sequel trades modern apartments for imperial courts and raises the dramatic stakes considerably, though not every character arc sticks the landing.

About Love is All Around 2
My first instinct with Love is All Around 2 was to treat it like the original and just chase the romance endings. That instinct will cost you. The sequel's central structural idea is a genuine fork in attention: the romance line and the mystery line run concurrently, and time spent wooing one of the six leads is time not spent unravelling the conspiracy that killed protagonist Cheng Ye's family. That tension is the most interesting design decision intiny has made so far, and it gives repeat playthroughs actual purpose rather than just trophy chasing. The shift from modern city apartments to ancient Chinese imperial courts and jianghu martial-arts settings is the biggest swing the series has taken. The production commits to the period: period costumes, historically flavoured sets, and the same live-action full-motion video format the franchise is built on. Three returning characters, including Zheng Ziyan and Xia Tian, show up in reimagined historical roles, which gives returning players a specific reason to care beyond novelty. New faces include an assassin (A Ning), a courtesan (Liu Shishi), and a princess, each slotted into the conspiracy structure in ways that are set up more confidently than they are paid off. The item system, a leaderboard of affection points, and two genuine mini-games (one a card-game escape-from-marriage sequence in Chapter 1, another a hidden-clue puzzle in Chapter 5) add light interactivity on top of the choice-driven branching. None of it is mechanically demanding, but the item hunting for 100% chapter completion will push total playtime from the roughly four-hour single-run baseline toward eight hours or more. Where the game stumbles is in the follow-through. Specific character arcs, particularly A Ning the assassin and Liu Shishi the courtesan, open with genuinely unusual premises and then skip past the connective tissue to reach their conclusions. The endings themselves are frequently abrupt, and the overall mystery narrative does not resolve in a satisfying way regardless of which path you prioritise. Audio consistency is also a problem: certain characters suffer from noticeably patched dialogue that breaks immersion. The video quality, while cinematic in framing, has been noted as below what the format's better entries deliver. English subtitles were initially community-sourced rather than officially provided, which is worth knowing before purchase if your Chinese reading level is zero. For newcomers to the series, the first game remains the cleaner entry point. For anyone who already has hours into the intiny franchise, the dual-path mechanic and the historical setting give Love is All Around 2 a distinct identity worth experiencing despite its narrative unevenness. Steam's English-language user reviews sit at a very positive 96% approval from over 200 reviews, suggesting the audience it was built for is largely satisfied. Just go in knowing that the journey is better than the destination on most routes. Diego, Scout Team
