About Lotus Lantern: Rescue Mother
I went in expecting a straightforward hack-and-slash romp through the Journey to the West universe, but Lotus Lantern is messier than that. Combat feels punchy when it lands, you've got a decent move set and the dodge timing actually matters, but the camera clips through walls constantly, and hit detection gets suspicious during group fights. Boss patterns are readable, which helps, but cheap positioning locks and uneven difficulty spikes between encounters wear you down fast. The story wraps around rescuing your mother through a mythologically flavored world, and there's charm in the setting if you're patient with slower pacing and occasional rough translations. Exploration is light, and puzzles lean simple. It's not a bad time if you go in knowing this is a scrappy indie swing at action combat, not a polished spectacle. Just temper expectations accordingly.
