What Lumi asks for is patience with an app that has no goals, no score and no ending. You install her, she walks along your taskbar, climbs whatever window you are typing in, dangles off a title bar and dozes when your machine goes quiet. There is nothing to beat. The interaction loop is petting her head, flipping on focus mode, letting her handle alarms, and spawning a second or third Lumi when one stops being enough. Workshop support opens the door to other hand-drawn characters, which is where the long tail lives. What works is the animation. Everything is drawn by hand and it shows in the small stuff, the naps, the climbing, the way she reacts to a window you just opened. What disappoints is depth. Interactions run dry within a week, focus mode is thinner than a real productivity tool, and the achievements feel bolted on to something that did not need them. Judge it as a desktop companion, not software you sit down to use.
