GamerScout Verdict
For puzzle fans who want strategy without the spreadsheet, brief, weird, and quietly absorbing if you're patient.

About Kings Under The Hill
I went in expecting a full strategy sim and got something much smaller and weirder instead. Kings Under The Hill is a point-and-click puzzle game where you manage resource-scarce kingdoms through a handful of menu screens and dialogue choices. The mechanics are light, build structures, manage population, make basic trade and diplomacy calls, but the actual puzzle comes from figuring out how to keep your kingdom alive with almost nothing. It's more about learning what each kingdom needs than executing a grand strategy. The game feels like a creative project rather than a polished product, which is fine if you're hunting for something low-pressure and experimental. There's no combat, no real story to chase, just the quiet satisfaction of making two plus two equal survival. Don't expect a tutorial or a clear win state. If you like games that let you tinker and improvise without holding your hand, it's worth a look.
