GamerScout Verdict
A pleasant nostalgia trip for platformer fans willing to overlook imprecise controls and repetitive design.

About King Leo
I picked up King Leo expecting a straightforward action platformer, and that's exactly what I got - for better and worse. The game leans hard into that early 90s Disney aesthetic, with colorful stages and a lion protagonist that clearly channels Simba energy. Combat is simple slash-and-dash stuff, and the level progression feels comfortably familiar if you grew up with console platformers. The art direction genuinely shines, and there's a nostalgic charm that carries you through the first few hours. The problem is repetition sets in fast. Stages blur together, enemy variety is thin, and the controls feel loose when precision platforming moments demand tightness. It's not broken, but it's not particularly exciting either. King Leo works best as a casual weekend playthrough for platformer completionists or Nintendo collectors hunting for underrated gems. Demanding players will find the rough edges hard to overlook.
