The first hour is mostly setup friction, and it is the kind that makes people quit before they ever dance. You are wiring up a phone as a motion controller, syncing it to the game, checking whether your living room has enough clearance to swing an arm, and figuring out which parts of the song library you actually have access to versus what sits behind the subscription catalog. None of that is fun. Push through it anyway, because once a track is running and the on-screen dancer is throwing choreography at you, the scoring loop is immediate and weirdly addictive. Chasing Perfects on a routine you have half-memorized is the whole appeal. What it does well is legibility. The choreography reads clearly, the difficulty curve across the setlist is sensible, and it works for people who have never played a rhythm game. What it does badly is respect your time when you are alone. Solo sessions get repetitive quickly, the song list is the entire product so your mileage depends entirely on whether you like the picks, and the phone-tracking only reads one hand, which flattens routines that deserve more. This is a game you buy for a room full of people, not for yourself on a Tuesday.
