About JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R Season Pass 2 (DLC)
My honest first reaction to Season Pass 2 is that it exists almost entirely for the devotees, and that is not a complaint. CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco have spent the post-launch period filling the gaps that JoJo fans had been circling on wishlists since the base roster shipped, and this second pass makes three very specific additions: Leone Abbacchio from Golden Wind, Yuya Fungami from Diamond is Unbreakable, and Wonder of U from JoJolion, with the caveat that Wonder of U's companion Toru only appears in certain productions rather than as a full second combatant. Abbacchio is arguably the headliner here. He was the last holdout from Bucciarati's Passione crew, and his inclusion finally makes the Part 5 roster feel complete rather than conspicuously incomplete. In the game he uses his Stand Moody Jazz to record and replay enemy movements, turning captured fight sequences into devastating combo chains. His Great Heat Attack pulls Narancia and Mista into a trio beatdown that is lifted almost frame-for-frame from the manga, and that kind of attention to source material is exactly why the base game earned its Very Positive reception. Yuya Fungami plays into a more disorienting playstyle built around his Highway Star Stand, making him feel distinct from the roster's heavier hitters. Wonder of U, representing JoJolion, rounds out the pass as the most avant-garde fighter of the three, leaning into the Stand's calamity-based abilities in ways that feel genuinely bizarre even by this franchise's standards. The pass also bundles in a Haruno Shiobana costume for Giorno Giovanna, which is a nice cosmetic nod for Golden Wind fans who want to see a younger, pre-Gang-Star version of the character, plus early access to each character as they drop. Whether that early access justification moves the needle for you will depend on how impatient you are. The characters are also sold individually, so the pass is a bet on wanting all three rather than cherry-picking. The broader context matters when evaluating this DLC. The base game is a remaster of a 2013 PS3 fighter that critics consistently praised for its overwhelming fan service and criticized for sluggish combat, thin online modes, and bones that show their age against modern fighting game competition. Season Pass 2 does nothing to fix the netcode or deepen the competitive framework. What it does is add three well-constructed fighters to an already generous roster, each with mechanics that feel thought-out rather than copy-pasted. If you are already invested in All-Star Battle R as a JoJo celebration game rather than a ranked-ladder fighter, these three additions give you more of what you came for. Alex, Scout Team
