Compare IWO: Bloodbath in the Bonins prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Guerilla Tea Games. Published by HexWar Games. Released on 5/19/2016. Available on PC. Genres: Strategy.

The terrain is the best thing here and the interface is the worst. A tight hex wargame for grognards who can forgive a UI that argues with every click.

Panzer Corps trained a generation to expect hexes with friendly edges. IWO goes the other way. The terrain does the talking here: elevation, cover and beach approaches matter more than any unit stat, and pushing inland from the landing zones is an attrition math problem rather than a blitz. It is scenario-based, single-player only, with no campaign metagame to fall back on when a landing goes wrong. The problem is everything wrapped around that. The UI is clumsy on a hex grid this dense, unit selection and information readouts take more clicks than they should, and the tutorial assumes you already speak wargame. Steam achievements and trading cards are the extent of the extras. No multiplayer, no mod support, no campaign layer, and the mixed Steam split (43 percent positive) is not hard to explain. Grognards who want a compact Iwo Jima puzzle will get one. Everyone else should start on friendlier hexes. Diego, Scout Team

Worth it only if you want a compact, terrain-heavy Iwo Jima scenario set and can tolerate a hostile interface.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
