Solid cosmetic DLC for one of the best extraction shooters on PC - the Bone Mason hunter has real character, but whether this pack is worth it depends entirely on how deep you already are in the bayou.

I've spent enough time in Hunt: Showdown 1896's corrupted Louisiana marshes to know that a good cosmetic drop can genuinely change how a match feels. The Phantom of the Catacombs is a small but well-crafted DLC pack, and the Bone Mason hunter - Beatrice Maunet, a grieving Parisian mother turned catacomb phantom - is one of the more compelling character concepts Crytek has put out. She looks the part: weathered, grim, and completely at home skulking through a fog-soaked compound at dusk. The pack bundles in two weapon skins alongside the hunter: the Fissure (a Romero 77 Hatchet skin) and the Fresh Marrow (a Caldwell Uppercut skin), plus the Scarfskin Satchel First Aid Kit cosmetic. None of these alter gameplay, and that is worth saying plainly. This is purely visual content dropped on top of the base game's permadeath-heavy PvPvE loop. If you are unfamiliar with that loop: twelve hunters drop into a large map in solos, duos, or trios, track down AI boss monsters by collecting clues, banish the boss in a multi-minute ritual visible to every other team on the map, grab the bounty token, and extract without getting shot. Losing your hunter wipes their gear and earned traits permanently. It is genuinely one of the tensest gameplay structures in any online shooter right now, and the sound design alone - distant gunshots signalling where rival teams are fighting, dogs howling to alert players to your presence - does more atmospheric heavy lifting than most games manage with a full cinematics budget. So where does the Phantom of the Catacombs DLC sit in all of that? Honestly, right at the edge of the "nice to have" category. The Bone Mason is a distinctive, story-backed hunter rather than a generic palette swap, and Crytek has put real effort into the lore connecting Beatrice to both Paris and the Louisiana bayou. The weapon skins are thematically consistent, all bone and worn leather, rather than the garish out-of-setting designs that sometimes creep into live-service cosmetic shops. For players who already clock regular hours in the game and want to express some identity without standing out like a neon billboard in a dark swamp, this holds up fine. The honest downside is scope. One hunter, two weapon skins, one tool skin. Existing Hunt veterans will know exactly what that means and can make the call quickly. If you are brand new to the base game, this DLC should sit at the bottom of your priority list well below getting comfortable with the clue-tracking loop, learning which perks complement your playstyle, and surviving long enough to afford a decent mid-tier loadout. The base game's Bounty Hunt mode and its brutal permadeath stakes are the reason to be here. The Bone Mason is just a very good coat to wear while you lose everything to a trio camping the extract. A well-themed cosmetic pack for committed Hunt regulars - new players should master permadeath first before spending on skins.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
