Human Extinction Simulator
A 2015 indie tactical space-combat sim that asks you to build a war strategy against alien invasion, if you can figure out what's actually happening.
GamerScout Verdict
Rough-around-the-edges tactical space game for players who tolerate obtuse UI in exchange for turn-based combat depth.

About Human Extinction Simulator
I went in expecting a grand-strategy setup, but Human Extinction Simulator is really turn-based tactical battles with light strategic wrapping. You're defending Earth against alien fleets, building war plans between engagements. The core loop is solid enough: positioning units, managing resources, executing battle orders. The problem is the UI doesn't explain itself well. Tooltips are sparse, tutorial is minimal, and the strategic layer feels disconnected from the actual combat. If you're the type who enjoys figuring out opaque systems and doesn't mind trial-and-error learning, there's a lean tactical game buried here. But this isn't a Paradox grand-strategy experience, it's closer to a barebones XCOM predecessor. Worth a shot if turn-based space combat appeals to you and you have patience for clunky presentation.
