Hua Manlou

If you like allocating limited weekly actions across a roster and watching stat thresholds unlock story branches, this one is for you. If you came for actual espionage systems (guard patrols, risk modelling, failure states with teeth), walk away now, because the infiltration framing is set dressing over a fairly gentle raising sim. You run the Hua Man Lou venue as cover and train six women in reconnaissance and assassination work, and the loop is exactly what a Princess Maker veteran expects: pick a training focus, push a skill bar, hit the gate check, unlock the next plot beat. What it does well is legibility. The numbers are visible, the branch conditions are readable once you have a run under your belt, and the three endings (love, hate, revenge) are reachable without a wiki if you plan a specialisation early instead of spreading points evenly. Where it disappoints is the ceiling. There is no meaningful AI opposition, the strategy layer stops presenting new problems well before the credits, and repeat runs are mostly reload-to-reroute rather than genuinely different play. Budget one full run, maybe two.
