How to Take Off Your Mask
A three-hour otome VN where the mask-swapping gimmick is actually load-bearing, not set dressing. Bring patience for prose, not for systems.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth an afternoon if you want a tight fantasy otome with a premise that earns itself; skip it if you need systems.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About How to Take Off Your Mask
The premise is the best thing here, and it holds. Masks in this world change more than a face, and the branching writing treats that as a real constraint rather than a costume change, so choices about who you appear to be carry actual weight across routes. Runs about three hours, and the multiple endings mean two or three passes to see the shape of the thing. ROSEVERTE keeps the pacing tight, which matters more than it sounds: this released in 2015, and plenty of indie otome from that era pads to twelve hours with nothing to show for it. The hard part for anyone who reads reviews from me: there is no system to optimize. No stat raising, no resource management, no schedule planner to build around. Decision-making is purely narrative, and the branch points are legible enough that a second run is more confirmation than discovery. The 84 percent Very Positive rating across 177 reviews is honest, not inflated. Go in for the writing and the setting, and it delivers on a short afternoon. Go in looking for depth of mechanics and there is nothing to chew on.
