I went in expecting standard jump-scare fare, but Hallowseed leans hard on atmosphere and story over cheap scares. You're stranded after an unexplained event separates you from your camping group, and the game uses environmental storytelling and first-person exploration to slowly unravel what actually happened. The survival elements are light-touch, mostly about scrounging resources and navigating the woods without getting lost, which keeps pacing snappy. It's rough around the edges as indie horror often is, and at sub-5 hours it's brief. But if you're after psychological dread that trusts the player to fill in gaps rather than spelling everything out, this delivers. Best suited for solo players who want a focused, unsettling evening over a sprawling horror epic.
