Homeworld Defense
A 2018 tower-defense strategy game where you weaponize asteroid debris to protect your planets from endless waves. Extremely niche, but if you want turn-based defensive puzzle-solving with zero bloat, it's there.
GamerScout Verdict
Bare-bones tower defense for players who want strategic thinking without narrative baggage or grinding.

About Homeworld Defense
I spent a couple hours with Homeworld Defense and found myself looking at a stripped-down tower-defense loop: asteroids threaten your planets, you harvest resources from the incoming debris, and you convert those materials into weapons to mount countermeasures. The strategic meat is thin - it's all about placement discipline and understanding what asteroid types drop what salvage - but there's something honest about its simplicity. No quest markers, no tutorial padding, just you and the math. The catch is that there's almost no community around this title and no Steam review coverage to speak of. That usually signals either a diamond in the rough or a half-finished prototype. From what I can tell, it lands closer to the latter: the core loop works, but the game feels more like a puzzle toy than a full experience. If you're hunting for a no-frills strategy sandbox that respects your time and won't demand 80 hours, grab it on sale. Otherwise, there are denser tower-defense games with actual meta-game depth.
