Heroes of Dark Dungeon
A budget action-RPG from 2017 that swings for the fences with dungeon crawling and real-time combat, but lands with a thud due to rough execution and minimal depth.

About Heroes of Dark Dungeon
I went in expecting a scrappy indie dungeon crawler, and Heroes of Dark Dungeon doesn't disappoint on the scrappy part. You hack through corridors with real-time combat mechanics and collect loot in true action-RPG fashion, which sounds fine in theory. The problem is immediate: combat feels sluggish, level design is repetitive, and there's almost no sense of progression or build variety to hook you past the first hour. It's the kind of game that exists, rather than one you'll remember playing. If you're desperate for a budget dungeon basher and have extremely low bars for presentation and gameplay feel, you might squeeze two hours out of it. Everyone else should keep scrolling.
