Heart of the Kingdom: Rebellion

I went in with low expectations for Heart of the Kingdom: Rebellion, a self-published 2019 strategy title with almost no online footprint. What I found was a surprisingly ambitious turn-based kingdom management sim that leans into resource juggling, diplomacy, and tactical combat. You're building a rebellion from the ground up, recruiting units, managing morale, and negotiating with rival factions. It's clunky and the UI won't win awards, but there's a real game underneath if you're willing to experiment and learn through trial and error. The core loop works: gather resources, train troops, defend territory, expand influence. Combat feels deliberate rather than action-packed, which fits the strategy mandate. The lack of a tutorial or community wiki means you're flying blind at first, and that rough presentation kept me from sinking hours in. It's not broken, just unpolished. If you're a strategy fan who thrives on discovery and doesn't mind a clunky interface, this is worth a shot. Anyone else should manage expectations.
