Haunted House
A roguelite resurrection of Atari's haunted house crawl, modernized with dash mechanics and ghouls instead of the original's abstract horror, but thin on content and charm.
GamerScout Verdict
Light arcade roguelite with solid core mechanics, but not enough variety to justify extended play.

About Haunted House
Orbit Studio's 2023 take on the Atari classic trades text-parser abstraction for real-time action. You creep, sneak, and dash through procedurally-shuffled rooms fighting ectoplasms and ghouls in short runs. Controller support makes the movement feel responsive, and the roguelite structure (unlock new abilities, modifiers, path options) gives you a reason to retry. The problem: runs feel samey fast. Room variety is sparse, enemy types limited, and the core loop of dash-attack-dodge doesn't have enough depth or visual personality to carry 10+ runs. It's functional roguelite design executed competently but generically. Haunted House works fine as a 30-minute arcade snack, but there's not much meat here worth coming back for after the initial unlock cycle.
