HackHub - Ultimate Hacker Simulator
Terminal commands, real tool syntax, and online PvP in one hacking sim that actually respects your intelligence. If Hacknet felt too arcade-y, this is the next step up.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for players who want a hacking sim with real tool syntax, a scriptable sandbox, and online PvP that actually adds something new.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About HackHub - Ultimate Hacker Simulator
I'll be direct: the hacking sim genre is a graveyard of green-terminal fantasies that ask nothing of you. HackHub earns its place by doing the opposite. From the opening missions you are running whois lookups, firing nmap -sV scans, and feeding outputs into hydra or Metasploit rather than pressing a cinematic "hack" button. That loop, reconnaissance, enumeration, exploitation, credential recovery, repeats across every contract on the Hack the Hub job board and every story beat. It sounds intimidating written out, but the game scaffolds it patiently. Failure messages tell you exactly what went wrong: wrong host, wrong port, missing prerequisite. There is no obscuring bad RNG hiding your mistakes. The single-player campaign anchors the experience. Objectives arrive by in-game mail and include a proper narrative questline called "The Journalist's Sister" with branching consequences tied to your choices. Alongside it sits a BugBounty contract system and side missions where suspicion management matters: you cycle Wi-Fi connections, delete logs, and time your attacks to stay off the radar. Network values are session-randomised, which means walkthroughs give you process knowledge rather than copy-paste answers. That is the correct design decision for a game positioning itself as a thinking-person's sim. The story content is solid if not genre-redefining, and the digital-rebel fiction stays in conventional territory, but the systems underneath it carry real weight. The 1.0 launch in August 2026 added the features that make HackHub worth discussing seriously as a long-term purchase: online multiplayer with PvP, procedural company lobbies where every session generates fresh targets, and a full Steam Workshop with a content SDK. Multiplayer runs on its own economy, with grey-market trading, VPN tunnelling, lateral movement commands, and a laundering loop that have no single-player equivalent. Players who have been grinding solo contracts will find the jump to shared lobbies genuinely different in feel, not just a reskin of the campaign. Community reviewers have flagged this multiplayer layer as the game's strongest differentiator in a crowded genre. On the rough edges: story missions currently require fairly specific sequences. At least one reviewer documented a soft-lock on a file-transfer objective caused by using an unintended drag-and-drop method, which a restart resolved. Mission linearity in the campaign is tighter than the sandbox framing suggests, and players expecting full creative freedom on story objectives will bump into invisible walls. The AI-generated sound assets and some localisation strings are a minor immersion tax, though the developer has flagged ongoing translation improvements. None of these issues feel structural, and the post-EA patch cadence suggests the team is active. For strategy and sim players, the Code++ scripting layer is the depth multiplier that keeps HackHub interesting past the first ten hours. You can write custom tools, automate batch Nmap sweeps or Hydra runs, and publish them to the Workshop. Randomised subnets mean hard-coded scripts fail immediately, forcing you to write process-aware code that reads mission config values each session. That constraint is, frankly, a better design lesson than most scripting tutorials. If you are the kind of player who colour-codes spreadsheets or reads patch notes for fun, this is the game that fits your brain.
