About Golf It!
Golf It! is a multiplayer minigolf game for PC, built around shared chaos rather than serious sport. Up to 8 players take turns (or go simultaneously, depending on settings) through themed courses full of moving obstacles, ramps, loop-de-loops, and the kind of geometry that makes a ball behave in ways nobody can fully predict. That unpredictability is the point. The physics engine is loose enough to be funny and consistent enough that skilled players can actually learn the courses - a balance that most casual party games fail to strike. The course variety in the base game covers the usual suspects: tropical islands, haunted graveyards, winter wonderlands. None of it is visually groundbreaking, but the level design inside those themes is genuinely clever. You will find holes where the safe, obvious line is a trap and the absurd bank shot off a spinning windmill is the actual par route. That discovery moment, when you figure out the intended trick on a hole your friends are still flailing through, gives the game more depth than its casual label suggests. There is no class system, no loadout screen, no progression wall - just ball, club, and a course that rewards attention. The course editor is where Golf It! earns its long-term staying power. The Steam Workshop integration means the player-created library is massive, and the tools themselves are approachable enough that a non-technical player can build a functional hole in under an hour. More dedicated builders have shipped courses that rival or outpace the official content in creativity. From a systems standpoint this is exactly the kind of mod ecosystem that keeps a game alive years past release - the 30,000-plus reviewers at 90% positive are in part rating a game that keeps refreshing itself through community output. The weaknesses are real. Solo play is thin. There is no meaningful single-player campaign or challenge mode, and grinding through courses alone loses its appeal quickly without someone to suffer alongside you. The AI opponents, if you want to call them that, are not a substitute for human company. Online matchmaking with strangers is technically present but the game is clearly designed for private lobbies with people you know. If your friend group is not on board, the value proposition shrinks considerably. Performance is generally smooth but the physics occasionally produces genuinely inexplicable results - the kind where you watch a replay and still cannot explain what happened. Funny once, maddening on hole 17 of a close match. As a strategy guy I am contractually obligated to tell you this game has approximately zero strategic depth. There is no build order. There is no tech tree. There is no late-game economic crisis to mismanage. What it does have is the tactical micro-decision of every single shot - angle, power, spin - and the social strategy of trash-talking your execution. For a party night or a regular group looking for a low-friction warm-up game before something heavier, Golf It! does its job cleanly. Pick it up when your regular crew needs something everyone can play without a tutorial. Diego, Scout Team
