GamerScout Verdict
Interesting for racing history buffs and exploration-first players; tight drivers should look elsewhere.

About FUEL
FUEL came out swinging with one of the biggest open worlds seen in racing games at the time: 5,560 square miles of destructible terrain across deserts, mountains, and forests. The premise is straightforward, race, stunt, and explore across this sprawling landscape. Metacritic's 67 suggests the execution stumbled where it mattered most: the driving physics feel loose and arcade-y in a way that doesn't quite scratch the sim itch, and the procedural generation, while impressive at scale, creates a lot of samey terrain between the carefully designed tracks. If you're hunting for a 2009-era racing sandbox where size and exploration matter more than tight handling, FUEL still holds novelty value. Just don't expect Forza or Dirt-level precision under the wheels. It's a curious artifact of when developers were obsessed with "world size" over quality-of-life polish.
