About Fear of the Dark
Fear of the Dark does one thing well: it makes darkness feel like a threat. You're confined to an abandoned building with minimal light and an unseen presence hunting you. The core loop is explore, hide, survive, find the exit. No combat, no elaborate story beats, just the constant weight of knowing something is watching. The devs lean hard into audio design and spatial dread rather than jump scares, which keeps the tension from getting exhausting. It's rough around the edges. The exploration can feel aimless, and the AI behavior, while effectively creepy, isn't sophisticated enough to carry a second playthrough. The building itself is small, which limits how lost you can get. But if you want a lean, focused survival horror that respects your intelligence and patience, Fear of the Dark scratches that itch without padding the runtime with fluff.
