I went in expecting a spreadsheet sim and found something closer to a choose-your-own-adventure with resource nodes. You're juggling village growth across four settlements, making trade and development calls that ripple forward in ways the game doesn't always telegraph upfront. The tutorial respects your time without hand-holding every resource bar. Trading-card mechanics layer on top, adding deck-building depth to what could've been a bare village clicker. The catch: it's thin on systems compared to Tropico or even Two Point Hospital. No real-time management, limited automation, and the decision tree feels more narrative-branching than emergent sandbox.
