Best for hardcore tactics fans who prioritize mechanical depth over narrative and don't mind dated presentation.

About Fallout Tactics
I came into Fallout Tactics expecting a story-driven RPG wearing a strategy coat. Instead, it's a pure tactical sim where you command a squad of Brotherhood of Steel soldiers through isometric battlefields, managing ammunition, cover, and action points like a tabletop wargame. The campaign builds difficulty steadily and mission design rewards positioning and planning over twitch reflexes. If you like XCOM or original Jagged Alliance, the bones here are solid. The catch is the presentation doesn't hold up gracefully, and the story takes a backseat to mission structure. There's no dramatic arc pulling you forward, just 'clear the map' objectives that repeat. The UI feels clunky by modern standards. But if you're specifically hunting for a 2001-era tactical squad game with real tactical meat on its bones, this delivers that without pretense.
