GamerScout Verdict
Rough indie action-RPG with compelling ideas but execution issues that overshadow the potential.

About Fallen Mage
I went in expecting a scrappy gem, but Fallen Mage is the kind of game that frustrates more than it engages. It's got the bones of something interesting: real-time action combat paired with spell-casting mechanics and RPG progression. The core idea of blending melee and magic feels solid on paper, and for an indie project from 2016, there's ambition here. That ambition collapses under unpolished execution. Combat feels sluggish and unresponsive, the camera fights you as often as it helps you, and the level design drags between sparse checkpoints. The magic system has potential but never gels into something satisfying. If you're desperate for a budget action-RPG and have iron patience for janky mechanics, you might scrape some fun out of it. Most players will bounce off within an hour.
