I spent enough time with Exodus Borealis to see its rhythm: early-game is brutal resource juggling where one bad harvest cascade ruins you, but the systems are transparent enough that failure teaches you something. You're managing food, morale, and defenses simultaneously; there's no padding between decision and consequence. The tower-defense phase that arrives later shifts priorities sharply, suddenly you're thinking about wall placement and unit composition instead of granary optimization. It's a tidy vertical progression that works. The catch is scope. This isn't a 200-hour grand-strategy game; it's focused and compact, which is fine if you like your playthroughs contained. What stings is the lack of depth in late-game economics once demons arrive, you're mostly executing a defense pattern rather than evolving your production chains. Good for an afternoon or two if you want stripped-down city-builder logic with teeth. Not for players hunting long-term empire-building.
