Eternal Space Battles

I'll be upfront: Eternal Space Battles isn't a Paradox grand-strategy sim. It's a wave-based shooter where you survive incoming fire patterns on a 2D plane, and honestly, that's fine if you know what you're walking into. The core loop is classic arcade, patterns escalate, you memorize tells, you improve. It's stripped-down in the best sense: no bloat, no tutorials that overstay their welcome, just you and increasingly dense bullet formations. The problem is the game's audience never materialized. Six years post-launch with minimal community discussion and no third-party mod ecosystem means you're solo-queuing this one. If you're after a twitchy, meditative bullet-hell experience and don't mind playing without competition or leaderboard pressure, it's a viable afternoon sink. Otherwise, the genre has dozens of better-supported alternatives offering richer mechanics and livelier communities.
