About Elegy for a Dead World
I went in expecting a game and found something closer to a creative writing prompt wrapped in lonely atmosphere. Elegy for a Dead World drops you on three visually distinct dead planets and asks you to fill in blanks in pre-written narratives - you're not choosing dialogue trees, you're supplying adjectives, verbs, and entire sentences that become canon to that world's story. It's part Mad Libs, part interactive fiction, entirely dependent on whether you find that premise compelling. The three worlds have different vibes (each with its own visual style and narrative frame), so the writing exercise doesn't feel as repetitive as it could. But this is niche by design: if you're not someone who enjoys creative writing as gameplay, the thin mechanical skeleton won't hold your interest. Works best for players who think in prose and want their writing to matter, even in a small way.
