Anyone jumping into EDF 4.1 for the first time hits the same wall in hour one: the shooting is stiff, the voice acting is deliberately terrible, and the whole thing looks a decade old. If you push through, you get one of the most generous horde shooters around, and this pack assumes you already did. This is add-on content, not a standalone game, so you need EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair installed before either Mission Pack does anything. Mission Pack 1 and Mission Pack 2 each bundle a fresh set of missions on top of the base game's roster, giving you more maps to run with the Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider, and Fencer classes and their existing weapon and vehicle loadouts. The storefront listing has the exact mission count and names, since neither pack introduces new classes or systems, just more fights. This is strictly for EDF completionists who've burned through the main campaign solo or in co-op and want extra reasons to keep grinding; if you haven't finished the base missions yet, skip these and go play them first.
